At JNBS, Membership Matters. That is why over the years, we have undertaken several initiatives to know you better. We have demonstrated this commitment by training our employees and putting solutions in place to identify and protect you. The introduction of the Know Your Customer (KYC) solution is a continuation of this relationship.
Starting April 2, 2013, JNBS has embarked on a campaign inviting members to update their current information. The campaign will begin at the Half-Way-Tree, Duke Street and New Kingston branches. Members who visit other JNBS locations will also be facilitated and your documents and information will be collected for processing.
With the rise in illegal activities, such as the lottery scam and money laundering and fraud, it has become increasingly important for financial institutions to be even more vigilant. It is mandatory for the management and staff of financial institutions in Jamaica to know their members and customers, so as to reduce these incidences.
The Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) has increased its surveillance of all financial institutions in Jamaica to ensure that they are operating within the ambits of the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA), the POCA (Money Laundering Prevention) Regulations, 2007 and the Terrorism Prevention Act guidelines. Institutions are mandated to apply the best practices techniques outlined in the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Financing of Terrorism (CFT).
Having an effective KYC solution in place, means that JNBS will:
