However to prevent fraudulent conversion, please ensure that all cheques are crossed and made payable to Jamaica National Building Society for account (Insert name and A/C number). On the reverse side of the cheque, state the Account Number and the name of the Account Holder. |

to clear? A) A cheque takes approximately thirty five (35) business days to clear. |

why do I need that person to sign when I lose the passbook? A) All parties on the account need to sign an Indemnity Form which facilitates the closing of the account related to the lost/ mis-laid passbook and replacement with a new account number and passbook. |

Why is there a hold on Bank drafts? A) There is a hold on bank drafts which represents un-cleared effects and the time period held facilitates the clearing of the funds prior to allowing any withdrawal of funds. The time frame associated is approximately thirty five (35) working days. |

What I.D. do I need to sign-up for an account? A) To sign-up for an account you will need a valid photo I.D., which can be anyone of the following: i) Valid Driver’s license ii) Valid Passport iii) Valid Permanent Resident Card iv) Valid Citizenship Card You will also require proof of address. |

How long does it take to send a
wire transfer? A) A wire transfer takes approximately 24 - 72 hours or as otherwise stated by the Canadian Chartered Bank through which the wire is sent. |

How do I send funds to my Account? A) Funds can be sent to your account by using any one of the two methods specified below: i) By Wire Transfer – Go to any Chartered Bank in Canada and present them with our wire transfer information form completed with your information. ii) By Independent Mail – You can opt to send a postal order /International Money Order (IMO), Bank Draft or Personal cheque by independently mailing it to: JNBS Internal Processing Centre, 2-4 Constant Spring Rd, Kingston 10, Jamaica W.I. How do I send a wire transfer? A) You can collect a wire transfer information form from our office at 1390 Eglinton Ave West or request that the wire transfer information form be mailed, faxed or e-mailed to you. You may also download the information form from our website www.jnbs.com/canada. Fill in the JNBS account number and the name of the account holder and present the form at any Canadian Chartered Bank, and that financial institution will effect the wire transfer request. |

Can the Bank build my house? A) Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) does not build homes for its members. JNBS can assist with your financial funding requirements by providing a Jamaican mortgage. We can also provide a list of contractors or builders through our referral unit. |

How do I stop payment on a cheque
mailed to JN? A) To stop payment on a cheque, you will need to go to the Canadian Chartered Bank on which the cheque was drawn with the details and effect a stop payment order/request. It is also important to notify JN member centre to advise that you have placed a stop payment order on the cheque item. If it is received, they should be requested to return to the member unprocessed. |

Why do I need a credit report for a Pre-Approval? A) A credit report is needed for all pre-approval requests because it allows lenders to ascertain if you have missed payments, carry high debit balances, or are in other ways over extending yourself financially. Payment history is the most important factor in your credit rating. Your credit risk is evaluated from your credit report. |

A) JNBS Toronto Representative Office facilitates the mortgage process by providing the required documentation forms that are needed by Head Office for completion by the applicant(s). JNBS Toronto Representative Office does not process any member for a mortgage. It is best that you obtain an appointment so that the Representative Officer can guide you through the process. |
