Dormant and Restricted Accounts
JNBS Members are reminded that accounts become dormant after five years or more of inactivity. If a deposit is made to the account after that period, the account becomes restricted. In order to reactivate an account, the owner of the account is required to submit relevant identification, such as valid identification.
Overseas Members seeking to reactivate accounts should send the following information to the JNBS:
- A notarised letter requesting reactivation of the account
- A notarised copy of their valid identification
- Their passbook
- A deposit
Local members should carry out the same process, except that they are not required to have their identification notarised. A dormancy fee of J$250.00, or its currency equivalent, is charged annually on dormant accounts.
