JNBS Members in the UK were updated about the operations of their Society through nine Members’ Meetings held in five major cities across the UK from June 22 to July 12. Wanica Purkiss, Executive, Mortgage Operations and Representative Offices at JNBS, opened the series of meetings in Birmingham on June 22, 2012 and informed members of the state of the Jamaican economy, the JN Group, products and services offered by the Society while highlighting some of the major changes taking place in the JN Group.
Mrs. Purkiss noted that JN Money Services, the remittance arm of the Society, opened a full service branch in Moss Slide, Manchester, last year and pointed out that the subsidiary had diversified its services in the UK Market by adding a travel referral product. The service allows customers to make flight arrangements while completing other transactions at any JN Money Transfer branch.
Another important change in our JN Group subsidiaries, she outlined, was the rebranding of insurance giant, NEM Insurance Company to become JN General Insurance Company (JNGI). The name change was formally launched in May during a road safety campaign with the tagline, ‘Tek Time Drive, Arrive Alive,’ which seeks to reduce the number of fatal motor vehicle crashes in Jamaica.
The Mortgage Operations Executive informed members that their Society was in the process of being ISO 9001:2008 certified. The Audit will be conducted at the JNBS Chief Office in Kingston, and will then be rolled out, on a phased basis, across all JN Branches. “Jamaica National continues to strive for greater operational efficiency and better customer service”, she said.Mrs. Purkiss also disclosed that the Society had upgraded the LIVE by JN infrastructure, and has been rewarded with increased usage by members.“We have also held our first LIVE by JN training session, in the Half Way Tree Branch on April 23, and other sessions will be held, both in Jamaica and overseas,” she said.
Meanwhile, Leon Hamilton, Chief Representative Officer, JNBS UK Representative Office updated members on the services and positive changes of the UK Representative Office operations. Highlights were done on JNBS Home Loans as well as different savings products including the JN Vacation Account, which allows members to save towards a vacation in Jamaica and the Partna Plan Accounts which allows members to save towards short term goals.
