A Jamaica National team consisting of Wanica Purkiss, Executive, Mortgage Operations and Representative Offices at JNBS; and Leon Hamilton, Chief Representative Officer, JNBS UK Representative Office, made a courtesy call on the new Jamaican High Commissioner to London, Mrs. Aloun Assamba.
The High Commissioner was officially welcomed and updated about JNBS operations in the UK, Mr. Hamilton said. She was also informed about the concerns of JNBS members in the country.
“The new High Commissioner was very receptive and promised to consider the issues and work to ensure that Jamaicans receive all the assistance and support that can be offered through their High Commission,” he said.
Mrs. Assamba, a lawyer by profession, replaced High Commissioner Anthony Johnson. A former member of Parliament, she opted out of representational politics in 2007, citing an overwhelming challenge to be a Minister and a Member of Parliament at the same time.
