LIVE by JN Registration Process made easier

Members of the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) will now find it easier to register to use the Society’s internet banking portal, LIVE by JN, as new registrations will be facilitated at all branches, with the assistance of Member Service Representatives (MSRs).

“Members get immediate approval and quicker access to their account information online,” stated Emile Spence, Business Development and Research Executive at JNBS. “This improvement results from the capture of the most accurate information from our members.”

The development comes as usage of the banking portal more than tripled during 2011. Mr. Spence explained that, “this is a major success for our efforts to encourage members to use alternate transaction channels such as LIVE by JN and ATM’s, to conduct business and manage their funds electronically.”

He pointed out that the enhancement came as a result of research, which showed that more than half of application rejections during the LIVE by JN registration process were due to inconsistencies between the existing information on the record of the applicant, and the information the Member provided for the LIVE by JN online application.

“We have now simplified the process to reduce rejections and to ensure that we capture all the information needed, while the member is ‘in branch’,” he added.

In the meantime, JN members will continue to benefit from the addition of new features to the banking portal that seek to make it a one-stop-shop for conducting business transactions such as account enquiries; funds transfers; purchase of foreign exchange; mobile phone top-up; bill and credit card payments.

Ricardo Dystant, Manager, E-Channels and Discount Business Unit, said the payment of third party credit card bills has also been simplified for members with the recent introduction of same day processing.

 “All credit card payments made on LIVE by JN before 8 a.m. on a business day will be processed the same day and sent to the respective credit card provider,” Mr. Dystant elaborated. He pointed out that, “this feature gives our users greater flexibility in choosing when they make payments to their account.”

He notes, however, that payments made over the weekend will be processed the next business day. At present, JN members are able to make payments for credit cards issued by all major commercial banks in Jamaica, denominated in both local and foreign currency.

Mr. Dystant advised that each credit card payment made using LIVE by JN attracts a $100 service charge.

Jamaica National members in Jamaica, who do not have internet connection at home or work, can access LIVE by JN at any of the six JN Express locations in branches at Half-Way-Tree; Duke Street; The University of the West Indies; the Michi Supercenter, in Kingston; JN Financial Services, at Catherine Hall, Montego Bay; as well as, the JN Branch in Lucea, Hanover.
