As of May 16, 2011, the Toronto Representative Office of the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) in Toronto, Canada, will operate on Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily, Mrs. Wanica Purkiss, Mortgage Operations and Overseas Executive, announced on May 2.

She said that since the beginning of the calendar year 2011, it was established that a significant number of JN members are now using the services of the Toronto Rep Office on Saturdays; and there has been a shift in the number of persons accessing services on Mondays.

“It is against that background that we have decided to revise our operation hours; and, to add an extra hour on Saturdays,” Mrs. Purkiss explained, noting that, “Our office will no longer be opened on Mondays.”

The Overseas Executive also pointed out that, “With the recent upgrading of the services of the Society’s online banking portal, LIVE by JN, more persons were accessing this facility, which provides real time deposits, transfer of funds between accounts, Jamaican credit card payments and utility bill payments, as well as, access to sundry merchants in Jamaica.”

“LIVE by JN now makes it possible for Jamaicans in the Diaspora to enhance their financial transactions with the Society, from anywhere in the world,” Mrs. Purkiss pointed out, noting that, “persons living overseas would automatically benefit from being “e-Plan” members of the Society, and earn e-Plan interest rates on their savings account.”

Mrs. Purkiss also said that Jamaica National is mindful of the financial changes that are taking place in the global and Jamaican economies; and, is therefore, working on its members’ behalf to provide savings and mortgage products, as well as upgraded services, to their benefit.
